Each Personal Pack includes five 4x4cm wooden blocks and 100 - 125 pegs (in a range of 10 colours).  The pegs and boards are packed in a handy plastic box with four compartments, personalised for each child and are sold in class sets of 30.

Teachers will receive a Powerpoint for modelling using the Pegs and Boards.

The boards can be lifted, so children can show their work and teachers can assess from a distance.  The ability to physically manipulate numbers exposes children to the flexibility required to later be able to perform mental manipulations of numbers. Spot On With Numbers links to the fingers and dice patterns.  The structural variation provides the opportunity to explore concepts at a greater depth; making discoveries and links.  The patterns encourage children to subitise, visualise and make connections, so it is perfect for developing number sense.

It is great to link to other resources already used in the classroom as this exposes children to multiple representations and gives children a variety of structures they can draw on to make sense of numbers and their relationships.  The patterns created with the pegs and boards also provide very strong visuals for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
